Welcome to our website!

Mid-Continental Research Associates, Inc. (MCRA) is a corporation owned and operated by the husband-wife team of Robert H. Lafferty III and Kathleen M. Hess. This small, woman-owned business was founded in July 1983. The company’s offices are located in the Ozark Mountains in northwest Arkansas. MCRA has carried out archeological and historic research projects in Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Illinois, Kentucky, and Mississippi.

Experienced cultural resource management experts staff MCRA. Our principals and core staff have over 100 years of combined experience in cultural resource studies. We have enabled our clients to comply with historic preservation laws, such as Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and the National Environmental Protection Act and regulatory requirements, such as Corps of Engineers Section 404 permits.

MCRA understands that timeliness is next to godliness. Our principal corporate goal in the execution of projects is to provide our sponsor with technically excellent and defensible information, within the budget, and in a timely manner. We realize that only by completing our work on time and in a technically excellent manner is it possible to keep the rest of the project on schedule.
